When choosing paint colors while preparing to put your home on the market, we have a few tried and true neutrals we love to recommend to our clients! Check our our recent summer newsletter feature on the topic highlighting our go-to’s:
For home decor, furniture, and more design with color, the trends are certainly leaning on the bolder side of things. Kristen Swartz, D&C Realtor® says, “Expect to see color palettes this season that consist of colors found in nature. Look to shades of blues, blacks, and greens for inspiration.” The Creativity Exchange has provided great examples of how these colors work together…
These three trends below stood out the most in our research:
Shades of Green: ON TREND as more organic elements in home design & decor are still gaining popularity today! (BM Hunter Green, SW Pewter Green, SW Sea Salt)
For neutral greens, stick to those with gray undertones. For mid-tone, look for blue-greens and for dark, choose almost black greens with warm (brown/yellow) undertones!
Transitional Blues: Blues & grays will most likely always trend in some way. Rich blues with undertones similar to the classic blue of many traditional porcelain dishware are certainly all the rage! (BM Hale Navy, SW Naval)
For neutral blues, forward interests point to lighter shades that are cooler yet still serene and calming at first glance. Blues have been “in” for the past few years but a difference the trend is showing now are deeper shades of blue and navy are much warmer!
Complex Blacks: Darker decor, paint, & even cabinetry is growing with the surge of more industrial home design! (SW Iron Ore, SW Tricorn Black)
For neutral blacks= grays, the “greige” is slightly leaning more warm=beige than years past according to 2020 Home Decor and Paint Color Trends! As the trends of modern farmhouse meet artisan metal finishes and textures, almost black green, blues, & grays are expecting to emerge. Paint colors with bronze undertones may break as lighter shades of wood and exposed beams continue to be a popular emphasis. The prediction is supported by the west coast showing early stages of almost black exterior home colors in new construction!
