Looking for ways to invest in the housing market other than purchasing a home? There are many options, some of which are long-term, and others are short-term investments. Some investors prefer to purchase “turnkey” properties that are available to rent immediately, while others may prefer to purchase a property at a lower price point and restore it to a rental or attempt to sell it for a profit. There’s an additional investment strategy referred to as the B.R.R.R.R. method (buy, rehab, rent, refinance, repeat). Some properties offer multiple-units that can be rented in the same building, offering a more steady cash flow than a single-family rental.

Furthermore, short term rentals have also become very popular, with the help of websites such as HomeAway and Airbnb, for people looking to offset the expenses of their vacation homes.  

With real estate investing, it’s not a “one size fits all” approach. Rather, you have to find the strategy that works best with your own goals and fits your personality.
